The Risks Of Not Having Valid Licence And Continuing To Drive
One of the worst offenses on our roads is driving without a valid Drivers license. This is something that has been ingrained into us right from the first days when we start driving, but it is so surprising to note that there are thousands of violations reported each year of people driving without a license!
With the offence of driving without a licence, there are different levels of severity, the most minor of which being when the driver does have a licence, but just doesn’t have it on them at the time they get pulled over. The best thing to do in this situation is to be truthful and allow the police to take your car away if they wish to. You can then go home, get your licence, show it to them, apologise for not carrying it, and drive your car home.
The more severe end of the scale is when people are not even entitled to a licence and drive around on the roads. There are a few people who have got away with this scot-free and posted their stories on various online forums like YouTube, however, realistically speaking, there is no way youre going to get out of it if youre caught driving without even being entitled to a licence.
Problems really start occurring when cars are involved in an accident and the driver doesnt hold a valid licence. If you are found in this situation, god help you! Depending on the laws in the particular state or county that you are in, penalties can range from having your vehicle impounded to lifetime bans on applying for a driving licence to a spell in prison.
The worst penalties however are for if you are found driving after having a ban put on your licence. Even if you are found driving during the period of a temporary ban, the penalties are more severe than with no licence all together. If you are found driving after being issued with a permanent ban on your licence, then you may as well prepare for federal prison because that’s where youre most likely to end up.
Driving without license is a simple attitude problem. An understanding that the rules are there for our convenience will put an end to that attitude.
