Gambling is everywhere. Whether you are betting on a game, playing online gambling, watching the World Series of Poker on TV or spending the weekend in Las Vegas. Unfortunately, where there is gambling, there is addiction. According to PBS.org, 5% of gamblers are addicted. Sure this number seems small. But think about this, PBS.org also reported that in’97 alone, 87% of people who visit Las Vegas gambled. Of those 87%, 67% played the slot machines. In places such as India, gambling is a main source of income. PBS.org estimates that in’97 alone over 27 billion dollars a year was made from gambling. That was ten years ago, those numbers and stats only went up. Many people are ok gambling for fun, but others become addicted and obsessed.

Obesity has taken center stage during many different discussions both nationwide and at the local level. From education to healthcare costs, people want to talk about it and find a solution. According to Obesityaction.org, in 2004 more than 21% of Oregon’s population was considered obese, that number rose to more than 23% in 2006. The causes for this upward trend are unlimited.
