Some people do not charge for Reiki sessions and attunements. Offering your services for free is a very generous gesture, but if you want Reiki to be your life’s work, obviously you will need to be able to support yourself and possibly your family. You must start by realizing evaluating your overall situation first.

Obviously, as with all you do professionally, you will need knowledge, experience and confidence before you will feel like you are worth making a living doing something that you love to do.

My suggestion is giving free trial sessions to friends and family to get started and gain confidence. It is clear that you are not charging for the energy; it’s free for everybody. It’s your time and commitment to what you’ve studied that you are charging for. I started out giving Reiki by treating my family, coworkers and pets and also doing Reiki attunements. Offering these free attunements was very fulfilling and I feel like I made a huge difference in a lot of peoples’ lives – people who did not have the money to pay for an attunement but wanted to learn how to heal themselves and others.

Even nowadays, I would never turn someone away from a healing or attunement because they dont have the financial means. Remember the law of karma – what goes around comes around and the golden rule: do unto others as you’d have them do unto you. Thats the Law and we’ll better be wise to follow it.

You can teach Others!

It makes sense, that you should collect a lot of personal experience, before you start to teach somebody else. The reason, of course, is your students search for answers, and your ability to face them. The other point is your own experience with the Reiki energy. If you don’t get aware of the wonderful Reiki energy, you miss out the most vital point in the whole Reiki journey. The concept of Reiki in general is easy to go along with, but have to collect your own experience and develop awareness towards the innate holiness.

But attuning others can be done, even if you don’t have experience. Practicing attunements will help you gain knowledge into the processes involved in Reiki, both through your own feelings during the attunement procedure and through the attunees’ experiences.

My intention to become a Reiki Master was to grow spiritually and to expand my awareness. In this ongoing process you gain so much knowledge, so that teaching others become natural. Teaching and expanding Reiki to as many students as possible has not always been my goal and desire, as I guess it is not for many of you. Even after many years of reading Reiki material, doing attunements and curing people, I still didn’t have the knowledge and intention to be a teacher. Only when I asked my Higher Self in what I can do to help others, I discovered my ability to teach Reiki to others. What a new experience!

Why not becoming a Reiki Master Associate?

Once you have completed the lessons and assignments necessary to receive your Reiki Master certificate, and if you have the desire to teach others but not necessarily create your own handbook, you may want to consider becoming an Professional Reiki Mastery Associate, which is beneficial because you can purchase a professionally accredited course handbook at a reduced price for your own students. You can charge your students as you see fit for your support during their studies.

You will be your students’ guide through the course, sending their attunements and answering any questions they may have. Once they have completed the assignments they will receive a customized, internationally accredited Reiki Master Certificate through any Professional Reiki Mastery Association.

If you intend to teach Reiki, but don’t want to create your own scripts and material, and wish to supply your students with an accredited Reiki Master certificate, becoming an associate or affiliate may be the best idea for you to consider.
